It would be great if there was a very basic step-by-step guide or video, and with one or two simple demonstrations or examples that could be replicated by the learner for practice, showing how exactly to record Kaivo sounds. A guide for absolute beginners and idiots... I probably fall into the latter category.
One of my problems is that, after recording something, when I get the synth to stop sounding on and on, what I've recorded won't play back any more as I've now changed the settings of the synth on that track because I stopped it sounding. I don't see how to overcome this.
Hi, I downloaded the demo version for Windows (I have Win 7) and would like to buy this synth but am not sure I'll be able to understand or use it properly.
Using my own synth keyboard to input notes into a track in Cubase, I found that when I had recorded something from Kaivo, certain sounds (only a few) just went on and on forever even though I wasn't inputting notes any more, and I found it almost impossible to stop the sounds completely.
When I'd more or less succeeded I replayed the track to hear what I had recorded. Silence, of course, since I had now changed the settings to get the synth to stop! Clearly I must be doing something wrong.
Another problem was that when I added a wave file of my own it would then appear in the list, but later I could not find a way to delete it from that list or even change its name. It surely must be possible to delete what you have added.
I'm just a beginner at all this so maybe that's why I'm struggling so much. I'd be grateful if someone has the time (or patience!) to advise me on these two questions.
Many thanks for answering so promptly but I'm afraid I just can't get the hang of it.
What I find initially is this: I start with Kaivo default - no sound. I play a scale (input the notes) and can now get sounds. I record them. I then play them back. Two or three notes are missing but now there's a constant steady sound which goes on after the playback should have stopped and I cannot get this to stop, not even if I re-click on Kaivo default. At the beginning there was silence with Kaivo default but not now. This is without touching any of the synth controls at all.
If I start again and turn up the GATE level there is now sound immediately, but I cannot record this in Cubase. I have to use the MIDI keyboard to record anything - but touching one note changes this sound, adding a midi note. If I then record this the sound goes on endlessly, and even reducing the Gate back to 0 does not stop it.
Does this make any sense? Clicking on default sometimes stops it but not always.
I obviously haven't a clue. Maybe I need to read the manual? Or could it be because I'm using Kaivo with Cubase 5?
Thank you for your second answer - I was able to delete my imported samples.
